Mars Hill United Methodist Church

By its own account, the congregation was organized on 25 May 1959 under the leadership of the Reverend James Thurman. The church says services were held at the chapel of Holcombe Funeral Home on Main Street until February of 1960. The church says that in 2023 the Church Council voted unanimously to affirm its intent to remain part of the United Methodist Church by becoming a Lighthouse Congregation.
